'Every Generation Needs A New Revolution' - Thomas Jefferson
February 18th 2009 - The Poem for Peace
Remember the great examples of public unity inspired by people like Dr. Martin Luther King and Gandhi? I do. Don't you think it would be great if in today's world people united to work together for the cause of peace in this way again too? I know I do. But is such a thing possible today? I think so... and because I believe in the power of people uniting for the cause of peace on February 18th 2009 I shall be emailing The Poem for Peace to three of my friends, asking that they will do the same, and that their friends will do likewise, in the hope that the The Poem for Peace will reach the many people who want peace around the world... and show those that don't that they're in the minority and that the majority are now uniting with the power of modern technology to change the world for the better.
Our current world is clearly a troubled place. Take a look around you... look at the news... there's daily violence on both national and international levels... and it sometimes seems like society is spiraling out of control. But it doesn't have to be this way.
History has demonstrated that when decent people act together in concert great things can be accomplished.
So, on February 18th 2009 I'll be sending The Poem for Peace to three friends and asking that they do likewise. If you want to join in you're very welcome to become a part of The Peace Revolution so that we can make our combined voice heard. I hope you will choose to join in. United we can make a difference. On my own, I'll accomplish almost nothing. However, If you, your family and friends will join me, we could set something good in motion that could lead who knows where? And change things for the better. I think it's about time someone did - but if we wait for that 'someone' to be someone else, we'll quite likely wait a long time. So let's move forward together as a united force for peace. Together I believe we can change the world - please then join me if you can. This is such an easy way to make a difference for peace.
Here's the poem - you're welcome to copy it and send it to three friends that you know will be interested in joining you and me to support peace in our world:
The Poem for Peace
A mother cries, her son is dead
a life cruelly taken,
by a bullet to the head.
And the people ask: when will peace come?
Our world is in turmoil, as violence resounds
terror fills the news,
because the evil abound.
And the people ask: how will peace come?
A knife, a bullet, a bomb, a plane,
the age of destruction,
it's clearly insane.
And the people ask: can peace ever come?
In the name of God, more people are killed
if there is a Devil,
he must be so thrilled.
And the people pray: God make peace come.
Politicians conniving, misrepresent the truth,
a war commences,
but where is the proof?
And the people plead:
please let peace come.
This must stop!, this must stop!,
the many do say,
united together, we'll find a way.
And the people say: this is how peace will come.
And the age of terror, the age of pain?
the people united,
heralded the end of Death's reign.
Because the people understood they must make peace come.
And the many united, and war was no more,
No terrorists, no thugs,
no politicians for war.
And the people rejoiced, thank goodness peace has come!
A world without terror, a world without fight,
this can come true,
if we all
do what's right.
This is how peace will come!
Please send The Poem for Peace to three of your friends and help bring peace to the world. United we can make a difference!

P.P.S. Why February 18th?
Back in 1912 a young woman called Dorothy Kerin was dying from a life threatening illness. Doctors had tried everything to save her, but to no avail. It appeared she wouldn't last more than a few hours. However, contrary to medical expectations, miraculously, she was healed, after what she attributed to be a Divine visitation. Her family and the medical profession were astounded. Thereafter she called the date upon which this healing event happened her 'Beautiful Day'. The date? February 18th! From that day on Dorothy sought to act as a conduit for healing: spiritual, psychological emotional, and physical - to as many people as she could. Today, as a testimony to Dorothy's dedication the care centre she founded called Burrswood still exists (Dorothy passed away as an elderly lady in 1963). I first learned about Dorothy's life and her work a few years ago (Winter 2004). Coincidentally her surname is exactly the same as my first name - and in many ways we share very similar life experiences. Having learned about Dorothy's life and her passion for helping to improve the world I have hoped the we might, collectively, pick up the torch that she lit, so that humanity, as a whole, might also experience a similar healing epiphany in the form of another Beautiful Day. So, inspired by Dorothy and her life's work, I've chosen February 18th to send The Poem for Peace in the hope that it might become the catalyst for a Beautiful Day of healing that meets the needs of our modern world too.
And...
Here are a couple of quotes that are relevant that I'd like to share with you too:
1) The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Edmund Burke.
2) When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace. Jimi Hendrix.
Join with me in 2009 and beyond. This is your chance to work with likeminded people so that together we can use our combined Voice on a regular basis as part of the Peace Revolution Activist Network.
