My career is about helping people to learn to positively deal with challenges. This often includes assisting my clients to develop new and better attitudes towards life, and to become proactive regarding the challenges that they face by accepting personal responsibility for the roles they play and thereby claiming the power that comes with acknowledging such responsibility. Likewise, I believe, on a global level we too need to accept personal responsibility for our actions and for the role we can play in bringing peace to the world. If we sit back helplessly concluding that time (or someone else) will sort things out the world will continue to deteriorate - until it becomes too late for us to resolve the problems we've created. However when we together instead learn to think positively and act responsibly I believe that we can magnify the order of change that can be made to significantly improve the quality of our world. (Check out Bebo, Facebook and MySpace)
I think the BBC TV series set in MI5 called Spooks is great. I wonder how close it is to reality? I also like the American paranormal series called Supernatural and the two BBC paranormal series called Sea of Souls and Apparitions. Dr Who and Torchwood are excellent too. Crossing Over with John Edward is great, as are programmes on mediumship by James Van Praagh, Derek Acorah, Colin Fry and Tony Stockwell. Musically I listen to a wide range of forms from Gregorian Chant to Classical, with a host of styles in between including Elvis Presley, Enrique Iglesias, The Mediaeval Baebes, Jimi Hendrix, Guns N' Roses, Natasha Marsh, Oasis, Paul Weller, Marc Bolan, Prince and U2, for example.
The kind of people I admire most are those who seek to better the world in some way such as did Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, Dorothy Day and Dorothy Kerin. Some well-known contemporary people worthy of respect for helping others in my opinion are people like Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffett, Bono, Bob Geldof, Richard Branson and Al Gore, for example. Lawyers like Jan Schlichtmann who put the needs of vulnerable people above personal gain are valued members of society (I wish there were many more like him). Members of the emergency services, charity workers and other such, often, 'unsung' heroes are I believe worthy of much gratitude. Those who make others smile are also on my list, like Robin Williams.
Hypnotherapy-NLP, Coaching, Counselling, EFT and Reiki |
I work at a professional hypnotherapist in a dedicated practice located at Bournemouth, in Dorset (England). As well as assisting clients who live within easy travelling distance of my practice I also receive clients from other parts of the UK, usually as a result of a referral. Sometimes I will travel to see clients who work professionally, for instance, in London, by special arrangement. Over the years my clients and students have numbered many leading professionals including several TV and radio presenters, psychiatrists, doctors, a surgeon, nurses, school teachers, bankers, solicitors, British peerage, a number of notable mediums and healers, counsellors, established NLP-hypnotherapy practitioners and trainers, a commercial pilot - as well as many other people from all walks of life. I've directly trained many people to become professional hypnotherapists too who are now themselves working successfully in practice around the UK and abroad. In the context of therapeutic consultations I have years of experience gained helping my clients to stop smoking, lose weight, overcome alcohol addiction, deal with anxiety, panic attacks and phobias; to manage career issues, sort out relationship problems, experience past life regression and more. I've written a couple of books about hypnosis-NLP and recorded a range of CDs and downloads for Ultra Hypnosis Ltd, which are available in the shops and online. My approach is integrative and solution-focussed.

About Hypnotherapy, NLP, Counselling, Coaching and EFT |
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a method for generating wellness (psychological, emotional, and physiological) when a person is in a natural state of relaxation which is known as ‘trance’.
Many people don’t know this fact – but everyone goes into trance many times each day! Trance is that state of mind that occurs when you become absorbed in a good book, movie or train of thought - where you just seem to ‘drift off’ and find your mind wandering into a pleasant daydream-like experience. Hypnosis (another word for trance) occurs when your brainwave activity switches from beta (fully alert) to alpha (trance) and theta (deeper trance). In fact, just by closing your eyes your brainwaves will begin to slow into the relaxed state of alpha. (Is it surprising that most forms of meditation involve eye closure?) So it’s quite a natural thing for you to close your eyes from time to time and go into trance. You do it every day! Trance then, is something you do often. Where the experience of trance becomes hypnotherapy is when a trained hypnotherapist is involved in the process who provides your inner self (your unconscious mind) with a range of special suggestions designed to help you in some specific way. Perhaps to become more positive, for instance. When these suggestions accord with your overall aims your unconscious mind can choose to respond to them, in appropriate ways, thereby helping you to achieve your overall ideal.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was developed by Dr Richard Bandler and Dr John Grinder in the 1970s. So as a form of psychotherapy it’s relatively new – and definitely innovative. NLP, as it’s name suggests, helps people to make changes in the way that they think (that’s the ‘neuro’ part) and in the way they communicate (that’s the ‘linguistic’ part) so that they can change unwanted behaviours and install desired ones (that’s the ‘programming’ part).
NLP was largely developed from the fields of hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioural counselling. So – like hypnotherapy much of its power is generated by working with the unconscious mind. This approach can often ‘side step’, so to speak, the many hours of work that can be required in some of the older forms of psychotherapy. NLP therapists understand that by helping clients to make small changes in the way they think and behave - this can (sometimes quite rapidly) generate some very positive results.
Counselling
My favoured counselling approach is called Solution Focussed Counselling. This means that, as a generalisation, my focus tends to be on helping my clients to change in the now, so that the present moment and the future can begin to improve. While knowledge of the past can be helpful, I believe that a preoccupation with it can shift the balance in the wrong direction. The past has happened. The now is the only moment in which we can exist. And the future is being created by what we do in the now. In Solution Focussed Counselling then, you learn from the past, while being proactive in the present in order to create a better future. In essence in a Solution Focussed Counselling session you will have the opportunity to discuss your situation with someone who will listen to you and who will, in the process, explore your options with you and support you along the way.
Life Coaching
Maybe you don't have a problem to overcome or a phobia to remove - but you do want to move your life forward in some positive way? Perhaps your career needs some improvement? Maybe your social life needs improving? Maybe you have some great idea for a business venture and you need to add some 'oomph!' to your motivation to follow through on it in order to make it happen? If this scenario fits you - then that's when life coaching can be useful. If you want to improve the quality of your life, it's usually a good idea to talk with someone who has already done this too. A good life coach will have already lived the process of applying life coaching principles to his or her own life and will as a result have firsthand knowledge of the process you want to apply to your own.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT is an abbreviation for the term ‘Emotional Freedom Technique’. This method was developed by Gary Craig, after he himself studied with Dr. Roger Callahan, the developer of TFT (Thought Field Therapy). Callahan had developed a new approach to therapy that works on the basis that a person can sometimes encounter problems due to the energy charge associated with those problems becoming, so to speak, locked in their 'thought field' but which can, as a result of the person tapping lightly on certain meridian points located on the upper body be released and as a result the person can experience psychological and emotional healing. Both EFT and its forerunner TFT are forms of 'Meridian Energy Therapy'. In essence they are based on the same kind of principles that acupuncture (another scientifically proven meridian-based healthcare approach) reflexology and shiatsu work upon.
The meridian points addressed by EFT/TFT are invisible to the naked eye – but exponents of Chinese medicine have been aware of their existence for thousands of years.
The meridian energy which circulates through our bodies is believed to be akin to electro-magnetic energy (some call it ‘magneto-electric’) which, according to the ancients, can become blocked in various ways. This is what Callahan discovered as he was studying the human meridians. So, while an acupuncturist uses fine needles an EFT/TFT practitioner will instead guide the client to tap on certain of these meridian points located on their own body, in order to facilitate the clearing of the existing problem disruption to the client's 'thought field' - so that the electro-magnetic energy can begin to function properly again. The indications are that many psychological/emotional problems have a ‘blocked energy’ component to them. Many EFT/TFT therapists practice an amalgamated form of therapy which incorporates EFT, TFT, NLP and hypnotherapy because all of these methods work well together.
How long does a session last?
A session lasts for approximately an hour (smoking cessation approximately one-and-a-half hours).

This means that it's quite likely that you will experience an integrative Hypnotherapy-Counselling-NLP approach with Life-Coaching and EFT included in the process.

Articles about some of my spiritual experiences have been published in the August 2008 edition of Fate And Fortune magazine, The Rosicrucian Beacon Magazine and by Mensa. The range of psychic phenomena that I've experienced include channelled precognition about the British Royal Family, world leaders and natural disasters; remote viewing and mediumship; many instances of which have been corroborated by witnesses. Recently, when I was attending a show presented by the famous medium Derek Acorah, just to see if I could, on a couple of occasions, I sought to psychically connect with the spirits who were waiting to communicate with Derek and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was indeed able to tune into a couple of spirits who were next in line, so that, for example, as Derek was giving a reading to one member of the audience I had myself tuned into a spirit called Jack, who turned out to be the next spirit that Derek spoke with, in the following reading - and then a little later I tried again and received strong impressions that the name Helen was going to figure prominently in a reading - and the next spirit who stepped forward to communicate with Derek turned out to be someone called George, with a message for ...Helen!!!
Here's a picture of Gill, Matthew Manning and me at an Eos Seminars Ltd workshop we hosted for Matthew Manning (Matthew is the world's most scientifically tested healer).
I recently recorded a number of shamanic trance audios for Ultra Hypnosis Ltd. They include Meditation In The Holy Place, Meeting Your Guide and Exploring Past Lives. Shamanism is believed to be the world's oldest spiritual practice. For more information click here.
My articles have been published in The Journal of The Complementary Medical Association, The Beacon Magazine, The Vine Magazine, The Model Magazine (a publication focused on the subject of NLP) and various Mensa publications. I've also written a couple of books, which can be purchased online and from your local bookshop (see the link at the top of this page for more details).
Some books I've found helpful... |
I think Matthew Manning's book called The Healing Journey is among the best books on the subject of healing available today. He has written The Healing Journey with wisdom and in a very positive, yet down to earth way. For those who are dealing with the challenge of illness, either personally or in relation to a loved one, this book will, I believe, prove a wonderful source of practical help and inspiration through the experience. Other books I have found useful, particularly in the study of spiritual development include:
